In Numbers 22 of the Holy Bible we learn a powerful message on how we should pray before we act and how our disobedience can bring a curse. Within this message we can find a Godly man that was seeked for council and was offered financial gain in return. He followed the instruction of God within the first offer but within the second attempt there is a very interesting part to this lesson.
See Balaam followed God’s instruction on both attempts but often what we fail to see is how this lesson applies to you and me. Wasn’t the first response of God to Balaam enough without having to go back to the Lord with a second request? Upon the second attempt the stakes had increased with more distinguished officials appealing to Balaam so he went back and asked once again.
In the second attempt Balaam received permission to go and this plainly shows how God uses his children along with the enemy to discipline us in our disobedience in order to serve a higher purpose. Too many times we miss this in life because our eyes become fixed on what we think that we see when we have forgotten how we are to believe.
So the next time you encounter a confrontation or an offer say a prayer before you act and be sure to follow the instruction of the Lord. For what father likes their child to come back with the same request and does not eventually allow something to take place out of love for a lesson to be learned? Seek the Lord for the answers you need and always look ahead instead of getting stuck where you are….amen
Just because something may look good now does not mean that it is good for later…
