As God Leads We Are To Follow…

February 20, 2010 by admin 4 Comments

When God rescued the Israelites from the Egyptians He carried them through a journey that was to teach them how to follow and obey. This lesson was not only for them at that time but it was a first hand lesson from our Father in Heaven for us to still follow today. It is very important for us to know history but what use is it if we don’t learn to look beyond what we see to hear what God is trying to teach us so we can learn to (not) follow the same path that once led us astray?

It is in our human nature to follow as we have been led but in every step we take as we mature we should be learning to apply our history while seeking God for the wisdom to help direct our steps of the future.

If you notice in the story of Moses in the book of Exodus when the people were set free they did not ask where they were going or check with a travel agent to insure the type of accommodations that were ahead in their destination. They simply wanted out of their suppression and was willing to leave the moment that they were granted the permission to go. One of the first lessons in this was preparing ourselves for what we might be getting ready to go through before we act on our emotions without considering the sacrifice in our daily walk that is required to make something better for our children of the future.

Before the Israelites even got very far the Lord taught us another lesson in how not to get set in our ways for you never know which direction He will guide. The Lord teaches us here how He directs our steps and we should not get upset when something changes our direction. We are to accept our path and to learn to walk in faith however He guides us.

After God teaching us how He is the one that is in control and how He has all powers the Lord went on to teach us another vital lesson in how we are to move in life. If you recall in the book of Exodus the people would stay camped in their location as long as the spirit of God hovered over the tabernacle which gave them the instruction of when to move and when not. This teaches us a vital lesson in our spiritual recognition of how to have peace with God where we have temporarily been placed  while being alert to follow as His Holy Spirit directs.

It is very easy for us in life to become lost in the wilderness and travel in circles to the point that we accept where we are instead of looking at what is holding us back. God has given each of us a promise of love and peace that comes when we learn to seek His will instead of our own. Many times we lose sight of this because we lose our drive when we take our eyes off of God and place them on what we see. It is easy to complain about our circumstances if we are not doing something to make them better and often we become lost in the wilderness because we forget how to rely on God instead of man.

What we see may be mountains but how we climb is by trusting in God one day at a time. For our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ taught us to focus on the day and not to worry about tomorrow. As the apostle Paul taught us in the ship before the storm it is wise to look beyond what we see to hear what needs to be heard…amen

The Persistence Of God That Changes The World!!!

February 13, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Throughout the Holy Bible we learn how to recognize the drive of God in the persistence of men and women who made a difference for the good of the people even when they faced all odds. It did not matter what they faced or whether they stood all alone because they knew the drive and direction that was given by God that strengthened their faith to serve the people.

Noah did not quit his task when the people mocked him for building a boat when they had never experienced rain. Abraham did not disobey God when the Lord gave him instructions nor did he give up on pleading with God to spare the righteous in the land of Sodom and Gomorrah before it was destroyed. Joseph did not give up just because others gave up on him or because of his circumstances in life. Moses never asked for his job nor did he even think that he was qualified. Ruth remained strong in character and true to God even when the society around her was collapsing. Samuel did not go back to sleep when Eli told him to just lay back down! David was the least of all his brothers but had the heart of a lion when someone spoke against our living God. Esther risked her life for the life of others when she went against the traditions that were followed by the people. Job did not give in to Satan when he suffered so greatly even when those around him made false accusations. Daniel never gave in to man for what he knew was right in his heart by God! Nehemiah did not give in just because the task was so large and the people that he had to face!

John The Baptist did not detour from God’s calling because the way people looked at him for how he appeared on the outside because he knew who was directing him on the inside! Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour did not detour from God’s message when He taught us how to love and forgive those which do not understand God’s eternal plan in this fallen land. The four men that believed in the Lord did not let their friend fade away just because they had to carry him and lower him through the roof to be healed! Nor did Paul allow his previous life to detour him from the message that he was to deliver when he saw the light in Jesus Christ!

Martin Luther did not give in to the Pope nor to the Roman Catholics when he took a stand in 1517 strongly disputing the church and following God. Our American ancestors did not allow Britain to rob them of their freedom in religion nor did they allow their fears to stop them from moving across the seas in the 1700’s. Benjamin Franklin did not allow his age to stop him at 70 years old when he wanted to help his country win the American Revolution. James Armistead, a brave African American, did not subdue because of his color! Thomas Jefferson did not stand for someone to think that they were above another when he helped write the Declaration of Independence!  Benjamin Banneker, an African American, did not allow his fears to stop him from writing our leaders about ending slavery here in America. Martin Luther King, Jr. did not give in when he saw something that was not right! Nor did Billy Graham waver from his commitment in serving God.

Throughout history many men and women have persevered and overcome tough situations because they put their trust in God rather than allowing the world to hold them back. No matter who we are or where we have been it is vital to recognize how God is the one who picks us up and lays us down to serve His purpose and not our own! The Lord gives us our inner confidence and drive that will not sway in this world until our job is done and it our place to do the best we can in everyday that we have been given. By living our lives as an example under Christ it teaches our children to never lose hope no matter what they have to face. Because with God “All Things Are Possible” even when the world seems to be falling apart!

It is in the persistance of men and women that never give up when we can see God at work that will make a positive difference for our children’s future! I challenge you today and every other day to strengthen yourself in the Lord and allow the love of Jesus to shine in your life like never before! It is when we know that Greater Is He that Is In Us Than He That Is In This World that we will find strength to overcome  our obstacles in life! Never lose Hope no matter what you face or for what you have been through because it is when we let go of ourselves that God will take over and carry us to new levels in the Lord’ s mercy and grace!!!

A Child’s Cry For America…

February 6, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Many Americans and even Christians have come to a point in their life that they have lost sight in what the Word of God teaches.  They speak of God but have forgotten how to truly trust Him verses trusting in what they see. Many Americans have fallen to a point of  survival instead of seeking God for our direction and trusting in Him to show us the way. Satan in our minds wants us to grab hold of anything that comes our way because he knows that after repeated struggles we become weak in just accepting whatever it takes to stay alive. This is where we must stand on our foundation of God to analyze our decisions and to insure not only the immediate results but most importantly the future consequences to protect our children’s future.

The United States of America was built on the core principals that was given by God in the Holy Bible that once kept our homes, our schools, our work place, our country and even our churches intact. Well, I believe it is obvious to see what has taken place since we have become tolerant to sin while other’s have been steadily removing God from our foundation from which we stand.

James Madison, the primary author of the Constitution of The United States once said this,” We have staked the whole future of our new nation, not upon the power of government; far from it. We have staked the future of all our political constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments.”

  In brief let me possibly open your eyes to the principles in the Word of God in a simple way to understand why our founding fathers stressed the importance of the Word of God within the freedom of this country;

Imagine a large playground and just before the children are released to go play the teacher must set some ground rules in order to maintain the order within their freedom which they are about to receive. Can you see the purpose of these guidelines in order to maintain the discipline, the security, the order, and how to stand in love with each other as a group that respects what they have been given in their freedom? Does this mean once on the playground they can’t enjoy themselves? Absolutely not! But we learn in this message that there is time to work, a time to play, and a time to rest in order to do our very best.

There is so much wisdom in the Word of God and I never understood before now and let me tell you,”It is REAL and there is a reason for rules and commandments to follow.”  Because without the teacher giving us the instruction and correcting us when we get out of line then how do you honestly see the children acting in the playground with others? Do you see some hording a certain swing? Do you see some trying to take something from others? Do you see some even abusing other children at a distance? Do you see some sitting all alone under a tree while others call them names in being free? What about the teacher or the person in charge, do you see them having a responsibility and job to do?  What happens if they only cater to some and neglect others? Or better yet, what if they simply don’t care and turn the children out to play so they can just go on with their selfish ways?

Our country needs to return to God in the center of our focus with repentant hearts in prayer while turning from our sinful nature!!! The Lord has mercy in His grace through the love of Jesus Christ and God has proven throughout history that when His people return to Him that He will carry His body through their trials to one day stand again. Our country is setting ourselves up for a hard lesson to come economically, agriculturally and even in our way of life! It is only a matter of time before this takes place and the only thing we can do is to return to God and pray to be restored within the body of Christ. The signs are every where in human behavior, in natural disasters, and within the control of governments removing the freedom from which we stand. If we as a whole do not return to one nation under God then prepare for the wrath to only get worse! By returning we will find new strength to rebuild what has been lost in our families, in our homes, in our economy, in our nation, and even in our churches!

With Gods’ instruction and purpose of keeping life in perspective this gives us the wholesomeness in the body that many people have lost. There is nothing better in life than having genuine love within the family and spending time with each other in sharing our joys and even our pains that we face in life. Everything starts in our individual lives and then spreads from there. Start the positive growth now and return to God with Jesus guiding your path to restore what we have lost for the sake of our children’s future.

Jesus In The Superbowl Of Life…

January 30, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Over the last 40 years I have probably watched only a small handful of Superbowl games and I never understood why I could not see the excitement that even disappointed some of the people I was with because I was not in the spirit of the game. But now I see why this took place since my spiritual eyes have been opened. God has now given me this understanding that I never understood before until now in what it was that dampened my spirit of the Superbowl game.

God has been working in my life for a long time and once I truly learned to surrender He set me free to understand what it is that He has been showing me. If you are honest within yourselves and truly listen to this long but short message you will hear something beyond the words which you see and hear the cry of Jesus in whom we believe. Our savior cries in the heart for how He shed His blood for each of us and for how far we have allowed our focus in life to drift from what we know in hearts to be true.

Why is it okay for us to stand and shout at a Superbowl game with cheers of joy when our team is ahead but when we are in church in the presence of God we stay seated with our mouths barely speaking a word or saying an amen? Why is it okay to stand up and encourage our team in the Superbowl game when they are behind with power in our voice to reach the fields but when someone in our church or community may be falling behind we barely even give them some of our time?

Tell me, do you think our pastors are the only ones on the team? We are all on the team as a Christian and it is our duty to Stand Up, Encourage, and Cheer in God’s mercy for our children to see the love of Jesus in how He has set us free. There is nothing wrong with a game as long as we understand the principles behind self discipline and order to keep our perspective and based on what so many show it is easy  to see how many are holding back whom they know. Can you only imagine what church would be like if we were all as excited about the service as we get when we meet for that special event?

I say all of this to you recognize the spirit of God and don’t just sit still with it when you feel it in your bones making you quiver. Because we never know when that day may come that we will be delivered. Enjoy the Superbowl with your friends and family but when you begin to feel that spirit making you cheer always keep God first because He is near.

I challenge you as a true Christian to quit holding back the spirit of God and thinking you can’t stand up to cheer because of being too worried about what others may think in giving you fears. Life in the spirit of God is a gift that we all have been given when we learn to listen and turn ourselves over to Him to use us as the vessel that we were set out to be. Always remember there are only two teams being good and evil to insure the team that we are are on because we never know when our time could run out!!!…amen

This Life Is A Journey…

January 23, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Life is a journey that can be compared to an explorer in a dark cave. When we are born this takes place in a cavern, and as we mature there comes a point that we must begin to walk in the darkness of this world. Sometimes our journey will bring laughter, and sometimes our journeys can bring pains. But all that really matters is that we continue to be faithful in our walk while always seeking the light of Jesus Christ in the darkness of this world to keep the enemy from driving us insane.

Sometimes in our journey we are able to walk and other times we might have to crawl. But all that really matters is that we always listen to hear  God’s call. There will be people that will try to misguide us and there will be others who simply just want to hold us back. But there comes a point that we must learn to follow God instead of man and then He will deliver us from this land.

There will be times in our journey when we may barely squeeze through and other times that we may even want to give up when we feel the load is too much to bear. This is where we must learn to never quit no matter how tight things may be because the Lord can lift the load and even set us free.

There will be times when we are trying to climb out of the darkness that we will need help because we all fall weak at times no matter how independent we may think we are. God put us here to help one another in this darkness to see how we would serve in helping others along the Way but so many times in our journey of the flesh we fall to a selfish mode of survival and become complacent to the point that we forget how to truly climb.

Many of us try to climb on our own at times when we don’t understand God’s purpose in having order and discipline within the body to reach higher levels in this life through the love of Jesus Christ. This is why it is vital to know God’s Word which is our foundation because if we don’t know where we stand then it is easy to fall.

There must be a time that we learn how to respect our differences and learn to work together rather than against one another. We are all here to help uplift each other whether we are on the top or even on the bottom. God allows us to go through different trials in our life to help others along the Way and to help keep our lives in Balance so we will never forget who we truly are. For no person is any different than the next under God and we all serve a vital purpose in God’s kingdom…amen
