In the book of Genesis 23 Abraham was negotiating to buy a cave to bury his wife Sarah. The man which Abraham was negotiating with knew that he was a man of God and offered Abraham the cave at no charge. Both of these men handled this matter with wisdom and respect. Abraham did not try to buy this cave for less nor did the man elevate his price even though he knew that Abraham could afford to pay whatever price he set.
Not only do we learn proper ethics in this message we also learn how a true friend offers to help Abraham in his time of need without allowing money to come in between their friendship. In verse 14 Ephron answered Abraham in saying, “What is money among friends?”
It is sad to see today how so many have allowed money to cause divisions within our homes, our churches and even our relationships. There is no figure that we can place on our true friendships nor is there any dollar amount that is worth causing a division within the love of the family. It is imperative to recall how God is our provider and it is our responsibility to serve God in everything that we have been entrusted with.
I challenge you today to never allow money to come in between the love that God has given and learn to trust in the Lord for the right things to be done in His timing and not in ours…amen
