Empowering Leadership & Discipleship…

May 1, 2011 by admin 3 Comments

Empowering leadership is a critical stage of maturity and learning how to build within the instruction of God. This is one of the most neglected areas in leadership due to several reasons. Some leaders simply become consumed with their responsibilties and they fail to balance their time in recognizing the next one to fill their shoes. While some leaders simply allow their own pride to grow out of control so they never learn the art of true leadership which is called sacrifice in giving up something for someone else. Then there are those that have the title but know nothing about true leadership as a servant for the people due to their own personal desire of power and allowing their position to take presidence as an idol before God.

In Exodus 18 we are taught true leadership skills and we learn how to apply them to our lives by empowering future leaders of today. Moses not only gave certain delegates authority but he allowed them to make decisions in the best interest of the people. These leaders under Moses not only seeked God for their direction but they taught us the importance of Godly council and they assumed responsibility for their actions.

Where the disconnect has taken place in todays time is where many men have forgotten to how stand togther in the unity of God with accountability between one another. Instead of taking responsibility for our actions or standing with each other many individuals have forgotten about what it means to be loyal to God in properly serving each other. For where there is no honor within our word there is no stability within our foundation.

Learning to empower future leaders by giving them the responsibility to make decisions not only displays our maturity in Christ but it teaches the upcoming generation how to build upon the foundation which has already been established. Too many times we cause our foundation to crack simply because we forget the real reason that we are here and what holds us all together.

As a leader where ever we are it is vital that we open up our eyes to the next generation and learn to train our future leaders as we learn to walk beside them and be behind them as they learn to walk on their own. For if all we do is hold their hands and not allow them to learn for themselves under God then how can we honestly expect them to ever stand on their own when we have to move on?

We all have a responsibility under God as leaders and it starts first within ourselves and within our very home. We have a responsibility under God as parents to set good examples in faith with our children and teach them how to make Godly decisions without allowing the world to guide their actions. Unless we teach this in our very homes then how can we honestly expect them to empower the future leaders of tomorrow? Leadership is not only about making good decisions but is about training the next generation…

The Heart Of A Child…

April 15, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Have you ever considered why children can see things more clearly than adults? As adults we allow judgement and our hearts to harden due to sin in our lives or for wrongs that have been done to us. We allow our own human intellect to enter the picture and this restricts the vessels due to the effort of thought without learning how to follow God’s instruction in letting it go.

See a child does not judge but they use their senses to discern between good and evil. Their hearts are open with their vessels full of life while simply recognizing the love that is being shown by the adults. As a child of God matures we are to keep our hearts open with understanding while learning to mature in the Word of God to discern between what is of God and what is not.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:3,”And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” The warning to us is this,”Always be open with understanding and without judgement. For if we allow our hearts to be hardened then we are restricting the life that is given through the true love of Jesus Christ.”

A Father And A Son

April 14, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

I once heard a story of a father who was trying to read the paper with his young son sitting on the floor beside him. The child kept disturbing his father and distracting him from the article that he was trying to read. After several attempts of the father telling the young son to not disturb him the father found a picture of the world in the paper. He then tore the picture into several different small parts and then handed all the pieces to his son.

His son asked,”Dad, what do you want me to do with these pieces of paper?” Cleverly thinking, the father then said,”I want you to take these pieces of paper and reconstruct the picture of the world.” The son went to work and the father finally thought he would have some peace but no sooner than he got relaxed he heard his son say,”I got it Dad!”

To his surprise he looked down to see the picture of the world back together and then he said to his young son,”How did you reconstruct the world back together so quickly?” The son then said,”Awe dad it was easy”. What do you mean it was easy, the father asked? “Well dad there was a picture of a man on the back of the world and when I put the man together the world came together.”

The father then picked up his son and said,”I am proud of you son because if we are not together then how can we expect something else to come together?”

Listen To Our Father’s Voice…

April 13, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

A few years ago I heard a true story from a friend who had a young son that would not listen. He shared with me about an experience and a lesson that took place with his son and how the grandfather got to witness the consequences of his grandsons wrong actions as well. They were all standing outside in the yard talking while the young son kept stomping on a shovel kicking the handle up in the air.

The father kept telling his son to stop it because if he kept on he could get hurt. As the two elders continued their conversation the young child that would not listen continued to disobey and stomp on the shovel throwing the handle in the air. The father warned him once again but with a stronger voice in hoping his son would take heed but sure enough the son still chose to not listen.

With the fathers voice getting more sturn and the child becoming more defiant the father chose to sit back in order for a lesson to be learned. It wasn’t long after that when the child stomped on the shovel that it came up so quickly that it nailed him right between his eyes. The child then ran to his father with tears of pain and the father did not scold him but comforted him in love.

See this lesson of a father allowing his son to get hurt due to his disobedience did not mean that he did not love the child. The father knew that if his son would not listen that the best lesson learned is a lesson from the consequences of his actions. Can you see how this lesson relates with us today through our Father in Heaven above? Why is it that we choose to not listen and that we have to be hit between the eyes to see?

When we choose to not listen is when we simply have to learn things the hard way….

Are You Too Blind To See?

February 25, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

In Numbers 22 we learn many different lessons that are to be applied to our lives today but too many times we allow Satan to spiritually blind us because we can’t look past the donkey to see how God is speaking to you and me. Have you ever considered the lesson with the donkey and how he tried to warn his friend indirectly without wanting to warn him directly? Why is it that we often miss the indirect lessons and we have to be told something directly before we open up our eyes and ears to the Truth? Do you think that is is due to our own lack of understanding in how God speaks and is in control? Or, do you think that it is because we don’t want to hear the Truth due to exposure that it brings in the light?

It is easy to allow ourselves to get built up on our academics, awards, traditions or our good living and forget how God often uses something we that we would never expect to expose our hidden sin. The Lord loves His children and all that He wants is for His children to live a holy life and then to come home. For the Lord says,” Blessed are those that obey my commands for they will surely enter into the gates of the Eternal Kingdom.”

Don’t allow your stubborness or your rebellion to blind you from the indirect lessons of God that take place every single day. For who would not rather take an indirect lesson verses a direct lesson from the hand of the Father? So, the next time you encounter a donkey it would be wise to listen without allowing your hearing to be out of tune simply because of what you see in forgetting how God’s Word teaches us to believe…amen

The object is to have the eyes and ears open to the signs! But too many times we are blind due to what we think that we see....

Spiritual Revelations

Don’t be like Eli in 1st Samuel and miss something that has been given by God. If you recall with Eli he did not listen because the Word of God was rare in those days and he did not recognize what was taking place until he saw the persistence of Samuel…
