Know Your Foundation…

September 14, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Have you ever really given much thought to the ingredients that holds our homes together and who gives us the integrity to sustain any type of storm? Within every home there are principles that gives it structure and within these principles there is love with understanding. Many people say they have love but without the love of Jesus in our homes then this love is superficial and it is destined to collapse back to the foundation.

It is wise to stop and ask ourselves from time to time why we do the things we do in order to insure the proper motives and to insure the longevity within the future. For when we do things out of the love of Jesus this develops a bond that will not be broken…

Knowing Your Foundation…

September 13, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Knowing our steps down to every fragment of our foundation is wise to insure the longevity of our stand and to know the areas which need to be addressed. For if we continue to overlook or neglect the areas which need attention then this can cause a crack in our foundation. These cracks may seem minor at first but the longer they are neglected the worse they will become. A healthy foundation is one that breaths life and is filled with love without covering something up that needs to be addressed.

A house may look good on the outside but if its foundation is struggling or falling apart then how long do you honestly expect it to stand? The foundation of a home is the most aggravating part to work on due to the hard work that is involved but if we continue to cover up the trash within the foundation it is only a matter of time before the fall. Sometimes we have to break things down in order to insure the longevity of the future…

A Clean Heart…

September 2, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Jesus warned that our words are so important that they will actually determine our condemnation or justification. He said we will be held responsible for all our words, even our careless, idle words. “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matt. 12:36-37).

Elsewhere, Paul cautioned believers to disallow any corrupt or worthless talk to come from our mouth. Only those things which lift-up, encourage, and are gracious should be expressed to others. “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29). Obscenities, profanity, cursing, dirty jokes, or making fun of others is not something that should ever be found in the mouth of a believer. “Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving” (Eph. 5:4 NIV).

Thank God there is a remedy for mouth sins. His grace and forgiveness is available for all manner of sin, whatever it may be. Jesus will forgive all sins that we confess to Him (1 John 1:9) — but we must also “forsake” them. “He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). The scriptures tell us to repent” of sin (Rev. 3:19), that is to “turn away” from sinful behavior. True repentance means that we will make every effort not to repeat our former sins and will seek to walk in the nature of Christ. Since mouth sins really originate in the heart (Matt. 12:34), repentance requires a change of attitude within. Such was David’s desire in his repentant prayer. “Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, 0 God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Psa. 51:9-10).

If you realize that your tongue is out of control, seek His forgiveness and allow Him to change the attitude of your heart and your mouth, so they will be pleasing to Him. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, 0 LORD, my strength and my Redeemer” (Psa. 19:14).

A Bridled Tongue…

August 29, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

It has been said that the “tongue” is one of the most exercised muscles of our body. It has been estimated that in a typical week, the average person will speak enough words to fill a 500 page book! However, for the Christian, the use of the tongue must be a matter of careful forethought and discipline. The Bible warns that believers who do not bring restraint to their tongue and speech have been deceived — and without such control over their words, their religious acts are worthless and hypocritical. “If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless” (James 1:26). It is a deception for any of us to think that Jesus can be Lord over our life, without also becoming Lord over our tongue…

Do Not Covet…

In Matthew 20 we learn a valuable lesson between the landowner and the workers. Throughout the day the land owner went into town and hired others to join his workers in the field. When the time came to pay the workers for their daily wages the landowner paid the same wages to the ones that worked an hour compared to the ones that worked all day. The interesting part of this message is the order from which the landowner called the workers and that all workers received the same pay.

Within this lesson we can find a test to insure that sin does not creep in and the Lord is teaching us to not focus on anyone else but ourselves. It is very easy to allow jealousy to enter into our spirit and when we allow this it only opens the door for Satan to rob us of the blessings that we have at hand. This parable in Matthew 20 parallels the lesson with the prodigal sons brother who became jealous when his brother returned.

Rather than the workers getting angry and jealous of the new workers that were hired the Lord is teaching us to be thankful for what we have and appreciative for the new help at hand. Can you imagine the next day in the field between the old workers and the new? How do you think they felt that day when the landowner went out again and hired new workers that made the new from yesterday old? Can you see a reciprocating lesson that Jesus is teaching to you and me?

In other words we are to focus on ourselves and not covet another in thanksgiving for what we have. Can you imagine the spirit within the workers working together in unity if they all understood this message?
