The forward motion of the gears within a clock can teach us many different spiritual elements of time. Throughout the Holy Bible we learn over and over where nothing was ever accomplished until the people were in one spirit and in one mind. As we continue to compare the gears of a clock to the body of Christ we can witness all different shapes and sizes traveling at different speeds and in different directions but all serving the same purpose in the Kingdom of God.
Here is where many get hung up in time. Due to the expansion of the gears within the clock many fail to expand in their position through sacrifice which teaches us that we are to decrease at times for others to increase. This lack of proper expansion within the body is often caused by pride or simple lack of trust within God. The Lord teaches us this very lesson in the anatomy of the human body which He created in the formation and expansion of new cells but due to the blindness of man they often operate as gears within a clock that won’t move.
Learning to operate within the natural progression of time requires communication in love as we learn to merge and operate as one without judging another. Many churches wonder why they are struggling to fill their pughs or struggling to hold things together and the answer is simple. They have created a box or a clock that just operates in the motions of time with little to no life being shown in Jesus Christ. This same thing can take place in our homes and in our careers when we just go through the motions of time without any substance behind our words and actions.
Time is a very valuable resource in order to build relationships and to maintain an understanding. For without an understanding there is no relationship and there is no relationship without an understanding. May I encourage you this morning to step out of the box with Jesus and watch what takes place as you experience something new. There is a peace beyond understanding when we quit fighting to hold on and learn to place our trust in the hands of the Lord as He carries us forward in His time….
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” 2 Peter 3:9
