Have you ever heard someone describe faith as sitting in a chair without any doubt of it holding you up? Many people use this example in teaching faith. It is a good analogy but lets take it a little deeper in the well of the Lord. If we look upon that chair while knowing it will hold up our weight then what happens when more pressures or weight is added to the seat? What happens if we do not know how to balance the weights through proper distribution and the weight becomes too heavy in particular spot?
If we were to look at our lives as a chair we would find that unless we are sitting on the rock of Jesus that our seats will fold under the pressures of this world. The question that we all should be asking is who or what is holding us up? For if we are relying on money or people then what are we going to do when neither of them are around?
Here is an awesome song by Kutless titled What Faith Can Do and I pray that it encourages your faith to carry on….amen
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
James A. Harrison
Hello Jay,
I was just thinking about Aberdeen when I read this message. I guess that you really do know a little bit about faith, don’t you! 🙂 …cause when all the money was gone, and all the people were gone, you didn’t have anything left but your Faith to stand on.
It was just the same for me when my Dad left us. All the money from the company was gone, all the employees and family members were gone, all that was left was our Faith, for myself, my mom, and the few that were left.
Another thought that I had was also about myself and Aberdeen. Once again, my job, all the money, all my friends, everything…everything was gone, but my faith, combined with God’s grace and love, once again pulled me through. I guess the most important lesson that I have learned is that our faith will be tested again and again and there is no reason to fight against these things. Each and every time that this happens, all God wants is for us to have Faith in Him and call on Him for help, and all that Satan wants is for us to rely on him and ourselves for direction! In this, we see that we always have a choice…to rely in our Faith in God, or to rely in ourselves and/or Satan. I have chosen myself and Satan’s ways one too many times in the past only to have negative and harmful results. Having Faith in God truly is the only way! We must remember, however, that God’s timing will never be ours and having faith is not easy, it is hard. Its very simple, but not easy! …God tells us though that he will not put more on His children than we can bear.
P.S. The song from Kutless was very nice and thank you for this uplifting reminder of how great our God can be when we trust in him! Talk to you soon!
