Dear Tiffany,
This was brought to my attention this evening by Matt and we discussed the topic, the issue and his overall post regarding the actions of this father and his child. In regards to his overall stance I see very little wrong with his response other than he could have better clarified his points, used better words and noted where the father crossed the line.
There is a fine line within discipline that many never discover due to their own lack of a relationship with God and it is when we neglect His Word that there are definite consequences to follow. This has taken place for the father and with his daughter in this matter. Out of curiosityTiffany can you recall a moment in your life where you made a mistake or acted in some way that you may have later regretted? There is not a one of us that is perfect and we all make mistakes in life but it is what God teaches us during these times that make us stronger and wiser for the days ahead.
Personally I see it as a waste of productive time sticking our noses in someone elses affairs unless we can have a direct impact on the matter and I pray that America begins to WAKE UP to the Truth of God before our discipline as a country gets worse. If people would spend the time that they spend focusing on others in productive loving ways within their own homes could you imagine the difference this would make? Thank you for bringing this to my attention and may God be with you....amen

I am appalled at the comments made by your Matt Vaden regarding the beating of a 16 y/o by her judge father!
Matt Vaden

Holly,
I also viewed the video and didn't find anything that terribly disturbing. I mean, you must know how it feels to discipline your children...it sucks. I hate it! However, as you mentioned, either you are going to do it, or society will do it for you and that doesn't really come out that well. People on the outside will never love your children as much as you do. Secondly, this is not to mention our responsibility to raise our children and do so in a Biblical sense. It is our God given responsibility. Take it however you like, the Bible does say: "Spare the rod and spoil the child". I believe that we have indeed gone over the deep end as a society and now we call even simple disciplining, 'child abuse' and this is WRONG! Beating your child until they bleed, locking them in a room for days, keeping food from your child for extended periods of time, ...these are examples of child abuse! I whole-heartedly believe that if we don't raise/discipline our children the way we are supposed to, then we will have to answer for this when we are called home to meet the Lord. I mean, if you have questions about how to raise your child, when to spank them and when not to, search your Bible, pray about it and talk to God. He WILL answer your prayers and give you guidance in this matter, I promise you! God is not dead, his Word is not dead, and His promises are not dead. He will answer you! Go ahead, call me a Bible toting, child beating, Christian!! I don't mind that...I will answer for my life and you will answer for yours.

I commend the judge and anybody else for trying to rear his/her child in this cynical world that we live in. However, I do NOT support child abuse! May god bless.

Like you said...this is merely a comment and I have already said too much. Cheers! :)
