In our youth it is natural for us to copy what we see but as we mature each individual should be learning to develop and stand on our own with unity in the body of Christ. God shows us things to learn from them and to grow in them without taking away from the overall family of God. This is where many people miss the overall direction of God and take matters into their own hands instead of learning to commit themselves where they have been planted and trusting God for the outcome.
This stage of spiritual maturity was taught by King David in 2 Samuel 16 of the Holy Bible. In his youth David would have probably taken Shimei’s head off but in his maturity he learned to trust in God for the end results rather than taking matters into his own hands. It is natural in our youth to want to act in the flesh but when we do this is when we often miss the hand of God at work because we become impatient and want immediate results.
I challenge you today if you are struggling with an issue to stand strong where you are in love and allow God to fix what needs to be repaired. It is easy to jump ship when we feel as if ours is sinking but until we learn to trust in God and work together every ship will eventually take on water…
