Dear Shirley, I have never been to the ramp, but I have watched the videos on my computer. There were a couple of red flags the minute their site came up. First, a woman preacher started this “church.” Hmmm. Contrary to scripture as it is. Second, she came from the Benny Hinn ministry. Whoa, huge red flag. He is now under investigation if not indictment at this time. Putting speaking in tongues aside, the man, Damon is rebellious and God hates rebellion. He marches to and fro, barefooted across the stage denouncing the church that Christ gave his life for. He teaches these young people that they have something more, or special that today's church doesn't have. I have even heard him shout at them not to tell their parents if they speak in tongues because they are not ready to receive it yet. As a parent you and I both know that secrets can hide terrible hurt and any “preacher” or prophet who encourages children to keep secrets from their parents is wrong–dead wrong. God hates rebellion and He alone is the judge of the church or anyone else for that matter. I have the Word of God and can search for myself what it says. The gift of tongues was ALWAYS another language, always. Even if it is referred to as “unknown” it still refers to those who could not understand that particular language. As I could not understand the word in Chinese unless I had an interpreter. When I finally came to my own conclusion that this ministry was in error was when I asked myself if Christ himself would be seen worshiping or preaching in this manner? No, He is only recorded as being loud and physical when he cleansed the temple. Christ was humble and preached humility always. He was led to the cross. He submitted quietly, not even answering his accusers. I cannot imagine him stomping up and down a stage yelling, unkept and in disorder encouraging children to keep secrets from their parents. Personally, I was rebellious throughout my life and even carry some of the same beliefs that Damon points out in his dissapointments in the church. I am a college student and went with fellow college students and found that The Ramp was not just a worship service but a place that tried to mold the youth so that they would not just know the will of the Lord but live it. The entire building was filled with the spirit of the Lord and it was in those instances that you find people outpouring their spirit to God. – As for speaking in tongues that is in the Bible.
